Skandagiri / Kalavara Durga
Skandagiri is one of the easiest and nearest trekking spot for Bangaloreans, which very near to Nandi hills and less crowded than Nandi hills. thanks to Karnataka Forest Dept. which has put full stop to crowded gatherings and miscreants from this place.
Skandagiri is just 62.7Kms away from Bangalore and just 20Kms from Nandi hills and both belongs to chikballapur district. The altitude of the hill is around 1450m from sea level and total trekking length is approximately 4.4kms which is very easy and good for beginner trekkers.
The Forest Dept. of Karnataka is currently regulating this place and allows only two batches consisting of 40nos are allowed to enter the hill premises. The first batch starts at early morning 4:00 AM for those who wants to float above clouds and second batch starts at 6:00 AM which suited for family and children. Trekking batches will be accompanied by forest guides. There were days when local village people used mint so much money just by harassing people for the sake of showing routes and allowing them park their vehicles in the village but now forest dept. regulating everything including parking and guides to trekkers.
